I have a new blog that I created to talk about the actual adventure of writing; the sort of day to day routine it takes to start and create a project..both the good and the bad.

WASHINGTON, June 4, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) — Two people from failed relationships meet in a twist of fate - and are unexpectedly drawn to each other. Will they learn to trust in love again? Or will they never be free from their past? Follow their love story in author Erik Powell Sr.’s romantic comedy, Chicago Love Tapestry.
Autumn, a travel agency owner from Chicago, and Michael, a director and playwright from Alabama, are reeling from recent divorces when their worlds collide one rainy afternoon in Central Park. Michael rushes to Autumn’s aid when she is mugged and she is drawn to his Southern charm. Michael escorts Autumn back to her hotel and they sardonically discuss their inescapable ties to their exes. In their continued commiseration, they become intimately closer — trading family anecdotes and reading odes to one another — applying the meaning to their own budding feelings for each other. They give in to their shared passion and, as dawn approaches, Autumn frets that Michael may leave her come daylight.
Chicago Love Tapestry is a one-act romantic comedy with strong thematic elements about the “tangled web” that love weaves. New relationships seem to develop inevitably in the wake of relationships gone awry - but some can never quite relinquish the baggage that should be left behind. Can Autumn and Michael leave behind their past and start anew? Will a tapestry’s charm bring good luck and realize her sweet dreams of love? Find out in the delightfully romantic and humorous Chicago Love Tapestry!
About the Author
Erik Powell, Sr. is from Greenville, South Carolina and was a “military brat” who grew up in Albany, Georgia and in Norfolk, Virginia. An advertising executive at the Washington Blade in Washington, DC., he is a “not-too-distant” cousin of novelist/essayist Gore Vidal and of former President Jimmy Carter. He has a son, a daughter, and a granddaughter. He is now working on a sequel to Chicago Love Tapestry, furthering the adventures of Autumn and Michael and introducing the “phantom” characters from the first volume. Meanwhile, a live Los Angeles radio broadcast of Chicago Love Tapestry is in production by Powell’s close friend, screenwriter Michael Coulombe. Powell is also completing research for a lifelong project, Devour the Widow’s House, a novel about General Stonewall Jackson’s Shenandoah Campaign of 1862. He and his “international cast of characters” - the church ‘gang’ - divide their time between DC and his beloved Shenandoah Valley. He invites readers to write him for a response at erik.powelldc@yahoo.com

Emotional heartbreak plagues each and every one sometime throughout our life. Swimming the Storm is the journey of the heart as it battles anger, overcomes doubt, travels through isolation and depression, and ends up on the path to acceptance and faith. The heart, like any other, muscle needs to be exercised or it will strain and suffer permanant heartbreak. It must practice ’swimming the storm’ if it is expected to survive emotional upheaval.

Thank you Genre magazine….and thank you everyone.
All of us know someone who has been in the service, who is still in service, or one day who might join the service. We are all somehow affected by this war.
But it’s those who have fought bravely for us - those that we honor today - they are the ones who have paved the road that we now travel on. It is those that we pay tribute every Nov. 11 and it’s those that I stand up and say “thank you” to today.
Thank you.
Happy Veteran’s Day!
